Jonathan Kennedy, Senior Chef Tournant at Caesars’ Vanderpump à Paris Restaurant, is pursuing his Bachelor of Business Administration through Strayer University with support from his employer. Jonathan recently spoke about his experiences using Workforce Edge and what it’s been like to be a working adult pursuing additional education.

How did you get started with Workforce Edge?

I signed up a year ago after I heard about my employer (Caesars Entertainment) offering education benefits, which include tuition assistance for team members.

I started in Caesars in 2019. I’m really glad that Caesars offers this education benefit. It’s definitely helped me with my studies. And it’s really helpful that there are a lot of other academic programs accessible through Workforce Edge.

How often do you use Workforce Edge?

A few times a quarter. Now that I’m enrolled, I have to log in to submit my grades and submit funding requests. It’s a fairly seamless process.

Did you sign up for Workforce Edge knowing what program you were interested in?

I did. I was already interested in Strayer University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration. I was glad to see the program listed as one of the ones covered by Caesars. It made enrolling a no-brainer.

What’s your favorite thing about Workforce Edge?

The best thing is the availability of my benefit advisors. They’re really quick to assist with any questions or issues I have. They’ve made the process easy for me, so I can focus on my education while also working.

Do you have advice for coworkers interested in pursuing education through Workforce Edge?

It’s a really good program. I do tell coworkers to check it out, see what’s available, and if anything jumps off the screen for them, just go for it. It’s a great opportunity. To not take advantage of it is like leaving money on the table.
